Carpet weaving is an intricate art that combines traditional craftsmanship with innovative techniques. At Kohinoor Woollen Carpet Industries, we employ a variety of weaving methods to create unique and luxurious carpets tailored to the needs and preferences of our clients. Here are the primary techniques we use:
HAND KNOTTED
This is the most traditional and labor-intensive carpet weaving technique. Artisans tie individual knots onto the warp threads, creating intricate patterns and durable carpets.
HAND TUFTED
In this method, a tufting gun inserts yarn into a fabric backing, which is then secured with latex. This technique allows for quicker production while maintaining high quality.
HAND LOOM
Handloom weaving involves the use of a manually operated loom where skilled weavers interlace warp and weft threads to create the carpet’s fabric. The process is meticulous and time-consuming, but it allows for great flexibility and creativity in design, making each carpet a unique piece of art.
FLATWEAVE
Flat weave carpets are made without knots, using a weaving technique that creates a flat, reversible textile. Common types include Kilims and Dhurries.
